Mitsubishi Heavy Industries wird 1914 als Hersteller von Handelsschiffen und Industriemaschinen gegründet. Im Jahr 1934 ist Mitsubishi das größte private Unternehmen in Japan, das Schiffe, Großmaschinen, Flugzeuge und Zugmaschinen herstellt.
Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift Europe B.V. oder abgekürzt: MCFE wurde im Jahr 1992 gegründet. In diesem Jahr beschlossen Mitsubishi Heavy Industries LTD und Caterpillar Inc. die Gründung eines Joint Ventures. Das E in MCFE steht für Europa. Das Joint Venture MCFE hat Schwesterunternehmen (Kooperationen zwischen zwei Unternehmen), die auf anderen Kontinenten tätig sind.
Im Jahr 2013 wurde Mitsubishi Nichiyu Forklift Co. Ltd. durch eine Fusion von Nippon Yusoki Co. Ltd. und der Gabelstaplersparte von Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. gegründet. Nichiyu wurde 1937 gegründet. Zwei Jahre später entwickelte das Unternehmen den ersten elektrischen Gabelstapler in Japan und führte ihn ein. Das japanische Unternehmen war während seiner gesamten Geschichte hauptsächlich auf den heimischen Markt ausgerichtet.
MCFE produces and sells means of transport to customers in Europe. With means for transportation for storage we mean: forklift trucks, reachtrucks, pallet trucks, trolleys, etc. The means of transportation for storages are imported through sister-organisations or manufactured by the company itself. MCFE does not only sell means of transportation for storages but also manufactures forklift trucks themselves. Within MCFE there are two different production departments that build forklifts in collaboration.
